Begur is a village with a great historical bagaje, placed in the center of the  Empordà. Its historical center is one of the most well-known in the Costa Brava and it is also known not only by its beaches, but also by its mountain range and its castle. Begur is full of small and picturesque beaches and calas of an unparalleled beauty. Also, Begur has a Romanesque small place called Esclanyà.

Apart from the Medieval castle, the Gothic church of Sant Pere and the  Casino Cultural or the Escuelas Viejas (ancient schools), of its beautiful beaches and calas, Begur is also well-known by its Indian Houses, houses of colonial style built by people from Begur who, during the XIX Century emigrated to America running away from the financial crisis of the age and who later on come back with an extensive fortune. In fact, every year they celebrate the “Fiesta de los Indians” during the first weekend of September to pay tribute to this historical account.
